After being told by multiple friends that their breakfast at Lardo was one of their favorite meals they had in CDMX, we were eager to try it for ourselves. Reader, it did not disappoint. There are no reservations, but putting your name in and taking a stroll through Parque Espana to watch all the neighborhood dogs socializing isn't a terrible way to spend 45 minutes. That being said, leave someone nearby as our wait was only 5 minutes after they told us half an hour. Everything was amazing, from the food to the decor to the waitstaff. You can't order wrong. Highly recommend!

Beautiful restaurant in a beautiful neighborhood. My son & I had the Croque Monsieur and my husband & other son had the poached egg with smoked salmon on a slice of sourdough. We loved everything. We also ordered an almond pastry, croissant de higo (fig) and a guava pastry. So melt in your mouth delicious. We will be back!!

Absolutely lovely. Ambiance so welcoming! Service excellent. 1st visit: Weekday breakfast. Incredible that it is open early for breakfast, coffee, pastries (dine in or takeout), as well as open for late dinner. We plan to go back to try more while we are here. It was on a lot of our "Best Of" lists, and we are happy to have it so nearby. Green juice comes in a glass takeaway bottle if you go to the takeout window. 2nd visit: We went back on a weekend for lunch, and there is a waitlist. Seems like every popular place in CDMX has competitive weekends, we were lucky to go off peak the first time. During both visits, servers were knowledgeable + friendly.

Lardo was a great experience for dinner. The servers were all very friendly although they did get pretty busy. The food was all pretty good with dessert standing out. The beet and endive salad was also refreshing. The ricotta stuffed squash blossom was tasty but felt a little bland. The grilled octopus had an interesting peanut sauce that seemed conflicting and the octopus itself wasn't that fresh and kind of mushy. Our favorite thing was definitely the carrot cake mille feuille with tarragon ice cream. The ice cream was very unique. Overall, a great vibe at night.

Saturday brunch @lardomexico The green chilaquiles were heaven in a bowl. Spicy sauce with great tortilla chips and the nopals added just the best vegetal perk to the bite. We also got saffron risotto with a scrambled egg. The risotto cake was great, just needed more sauce. Then the beautiful and tasty pastries. The blueberry focaccia and the guava roll were the best. The space is gorgeous, hipster meets grandma's kitchen. The service was incredible. They had zones that were covered without being in your face.

It's so cool going to a place you've been wanting to go. Everything about this CDMX trip has been magical. In La Condesa, an affluent neighborhood, this place was BUSY. They closed to change over to dinner menu before two and you must make a reservation otherwise you are playing with fire. Worth the wait. Everything and everyone was great. It's okay if you can't speak Spanish but if there's anything I need to do is learn Spanish in 2024. This became an unexpected solo trip for me and I want to learn just so I can come back often. Driving and parking is a strange thing. Just Uber. Sometimes I'd say bike but just Uber OR walk. I stayed in The Red Treehouse and walked the 20 minutes back which is a beautiful walk. I feel like Lardo is a must do. So yummy. I didn't try the pizza or pastries but that's okay, next time my friends.

Food is good, portions are small. Think tapas. A bit expensive, but nice ambiance and good professional service. Octopus is very tender, and caramelized pizza was sweet and delicious. Ceviche is very fresh and slightly sweet. Hummus was delicious and fresh.

We finally got to visit this spot during our vacay and it did not disappoint! We went for a weekday breakfast. The hubby and I walked up and saw a line, but a very nice fellow patron let us know that the line was for takeout orders of coffee and pastry. We only had to wait about 10 minutes for two bar seats. Our server was very sweet and patient. I ordered a cappuccino mocha and the hubby ordered a plain cappuccino - amazing coffee drinks that rival any I've ever had. The mocha cappuccino was actually the best I've ever had. For our mains, the hubby had Fried egg, spicy salami, and avocado over a slice of toasted sourdough, and I had saffron risotto with scrambled eggs, olives, and pinenut. Our dishes were amazingly delicious, but my saffron dish was exquisite. It was also a beautiful dish. Some fellow patrons actually asked me what I was eating because my food was so pretty. Of course, we also had to each try a pastry because everyone raves over the pastries here. We devoured a vanilla and sugar berliner, as well as their famous guava roll. Both pastries were packed with flavor, well balanced and not overly sweet like most pastries in the states. The outside seating area is pretty and the inside is just as pretty as a local cafe can possibly get. The restaurant was very cozy and we were chatted up by several patrons - some visitors like us and some locals. The ambiance simply added to the "excellent eats." If you're in the area, stop by. I can't wait to try their lunch and dinner next time I'm in town.

My favorite brunch in Mexico City! I'm posting this review four years later, and I still remember how cold it was the day we ate here in early January. Hence, the obligatory bowl of soup. I also ate squash blossoms every single day I was in Mexico City, and this version with ricotta was my favorite. Note: This is a Mediterranean restaurant, so I would suggest coming with the expectation to experience a Mediterranean restaurant with Mexican influences and not the other way around. My friends and I mostly ate family style at Lardo. We checked out two iconic taco spots in Mexico City shortly afterwards. :)
